Do Not Call It Fixity investigates the variety of perspectives that are present within the ambiguity of lived experience in which past and present, light and shadow, known and unknown interweave. Depending on the position of the viewer, the single shape of a rose in relation to others becomes an abstract drawing, dark becomes pale, botanical becomes figurative. Limited interpretation is thwarted as the movement of the viewer, of air, light and the relationship with other elements of the exhibition provide both support and contrast to the mobile sculptures. These sculptures are hand cut from Stonehenge paper and hand painted with ink.
Do Not Call It Fixity was shown in the exhibition The Persistence of Love ( In a Time of Disaster ) XChanges Gallery, Victoria BC, Canada, January, 2021
