Figurative

The victims of war are not sacrifices made as a means to an end of any kind, but in the most precise sense are both the means and the end in themselves.~Elaine Scarry

My figurative work hovers between a literal and metaphorical depiction of the human form, imitating the difficulty of describing traumatic memory. Realism is fleeting; feeling remains, even as detail fades; images are put down quickly ; traces of tenderness linger as if not to lose sight of  goodness in the face of catastrophe.
