I see in these works a reminder of how war affects all of life- for instance, a study of barnacles becomes a metaphor for the ruins of a bombed city, or an abstract speaks of armour abandoned on a battlefield; yet in each piece I see the possibility of something new appearing out of what has been pulled apart.
